Connect a site
Install the FleetWP Connector and pair a WordPress site with your workspace in a couple of minutes.
Connecting a site links your WordPress install to FleetWP so you can back it up, monitor it, and manage it from the dashboard.
Steps
Add the site in FleetWP
In the dashboard, go to Sites → Add site and enter the site's URL. FleetWP creates the site record and generates a one-time connection key.
Install the FleetWP Connector plugin
On the WordPress site, install and activate the FleetWP Connector plugin. See Install the connector for the download and the three install methods (upload, admin search, or WP-CLI).
Pair with the connection key
In wp-admin, open FleetWP and paste the one-time connection key. The plugin registers with the app, which returns a per-site secret used to HMAC-sign every request in both directions. The key is single-use and short-lived.
See Pairing for what happens under the hood.
Confirm the connection
Back in the dashboard, the site turns connected once the first signed heartbeat arrives (usually within a minute). You'll see its WordPress version, plugins, themes, and update status populate automatically.
After connecting
- Enable the features you want per site on the site's Settings page — backups, security, performance, uptime, errors, links, updates, reports, and login are individually toggleable.
- Set up alerts on the fleet Notifications page.
- Schedule backups on the site's Backups page.
Nothing to expose
The connector only accepts requests carrying a valid signature from your workspace secret, inside a 5-minute time window. There are no passwords to share and no inbound ports to open beyond the standard HTTPS your site already serves.
